Arlene M. Murphy, 86, of Syracuse, passed away Monday, December 15, 2025. Arlene was the daughter of the late James and Margurite McMahon and grew up in the Mattydale area where she was a 1956 graduate of North Syracuse High School. She resided in Syracuse since 1961 and wintered in North Port, Florida for over 20 years.
Arlene was a clerk for Wausau Insurance Company for 10 years between 1974-1984. She was a member of the Red Hatters in North Port, Florida, and volunteered for the Alanon Group in Mattydale. Arlene was a parishioner of St. Margaret’s Church in Mattydale where she also worked in their rectory office under Father McNeil.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by an infant son, Patrick F. Murphy, Jr., a brother, John McMahon, and her grandson, Christopher Murphy.
Arlene is survived by her husband of 66 years, Patrick F. Murphy of Syracuse; their three children: Joseph (Lucille) Murphy, Colleen Sovring, both of Liverpool, and Mary (Michael) Antonacci of Syracuse; her siblings: James (Carol) McMahon, Robert McMahon, Dorothy McMahon, and Kathy (Steve) Viskovich; grandmother of six: Elise, Caitlin, Brianna, Aaron, Brennan, and Cameron; three great grandchildren: Owen, Hadrian, and Avery; and by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Friday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A Mass will begin on Saturday, 11:00 am, at St. Margaret's Church, 203 Roxboro Road, Mattydale.
