Alvaro Baum

Alvaro "Al" S. Baum, 76, of Central Square, died Wednesday at Seneca Hill Manor. Al was a life resident of Caughdenoy, NY and the son of the late Alvaro C. and Alma Salisbury Baum.
He graduated from Central Square Central School in 1951, attended University College and graduated from Powelson Business School in 1958 with an Accounting Degree. Al was an Army veteran who served from 1954-1956. He retired in 1991 after 15 years as a bookkeeper for Oswego County. Al was previously employed at Westinghouse and General Electric. He was a former member of the American Legion Post #915 in Central Square and used to enjoy hunting.
Al was predeceased by his daughter, Karen Nicoletti, in September 2010.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Phyllis Tausend; two children: Deborah O'Neil of Liverpool and David Robin Baum of Perryville, MD; three grandchildren: Victoria Nicoletti, and Meghan and Patrick O'Neil; his two sisters: Garnet Howell and Jane Schauer, both of Caughdenoy; as well as two brothers: Russell Baum of Caughdenoy and Warren Baum of Rochester.
Friends may call on Sunday from 1-4 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Services are on Monday, 10 am at the funeral home followed by entombment in Woodlawn Mausoleum, Syracuse. Contributions in Al's memory may be made to the Caughdenoy Volunteer Fire Dept., 48 Prospect Street, Central Square NY 13036 or to St. Francis Adult Day Care, 1108 Court Street, Syracuse NY 13208.
