Genevieve Bielec

Genevieve "Gen" Gosek Bielec, 84, longtime resident of Mattydale, died Saturday at Van Duyn Nursing Home. Gen was a native of Syracuse and resided on Medford Road in Mattydale for 56 years. She was a very dedicated wife and mother. She enjoyed spending many hours with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of her favorite activities was to spend summers at the family cabin on the on the north shore of Oneida Lake with her family, children and their many friends. Gen was also a gifted athlete, playing semi-pro softball as a youth and was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church.
She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Raymond Bielec, Sr., in 1983.
Surviving are her four children: Mary Jane Ron Kadey of Camillus, Nancy James Denny of Mattydale, Raymond J. Sharon Bielec, Jr. of Constantia, and Thomas Kate Bielec of Mattydale; a sister: Irene Gladyz of Mattydale; her twelve grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Prayer Service will begin at the funeral home on Thursday, 9:30 am followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret's Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Syracuse. Contributions in Gen's memory may be made to St. Margaret's Church, 203 Roxboro Road, Mattydale NY 13211.
