Bonita J. Peterson

Bonita “Bonnie” J. Peterson, 77, of Bridgeport, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Upstate University Hospital. Bonnie was born to the late Don “Bruce” and Mabel Fox and grew up on the West side of Syracuse where she attended Cathedral Academy. She resided in the Bridgeport area for the past six years but previously resided in Camillus, Tennessee, and Florida for many years.

Bonnie retired after several years as a maintenance person at Hampton Estates in Liverpool. Her hobbies included crafting, crocheting, knitting and watching soap operas. The highlight of her day was when she could spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph Hunter, her husband of many years, Kurt Peterson in 2022, a son, William Fox in 2004, her grandson, Andrew Witteman in 2011, and by her siblings: Donald Fox Jr., and Joan Monaghan.

Bonnie is survived by her son, Joseph (Susan) Hunter of Kirkville; seven siblings: Thomas Fox of Bridgeport, Ronald Fox of Bridgeport, Michael (Connie) Fox of Arizona, Stephanie (Dennis) Mainville of Florida, Dawn (Allen) Sabin of North Syracuse, Debra Newton of Alabama, and Christopher (Melodee) Fox of Alabama; her five grandchildren: Jonathan Witteman, Ashley Hunter, Joseph Hunter, Krystal Kotzen, and Jasmyn Armbrust; three great grandchildren: Levi, Gracie, and Autumn; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, with a Funeral Service following at 7:00 pm.
