Calvin "Coop" Cooper, 91, of Rochester, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026. Calvin was born in Enfield, North Carolina. He attended Coates High School in Seaboard, NC and was the son of the late Will and Mary (Bennett) Cooper.
Calvin joined the Army in 1955 and served for a couple of years as a Paratrooper. He retired in 1991 after 11 years as a Paper Technician at Eastman -Kodak and previously worked at Rochester Psychiatric Center. Calvin also worked part-time doing home remodeling for Philip Lanzafalla Construction. He played 19th century softball with the Genesee Country Museum and enjoyed bird watching and taking long walks. Calvin loved traveling to various areas including Aruba, the Dominican Republic and domestic travel in the Southern US. He was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church in Rochester where he sang in the choir and volunteered with their "Next to New" fundraiser.
He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, the former Elnora (Bruno) in 2019 and his siblings: Dotson, Mabel, and Robert Cooper.
Calvin is survived by his children: Adria Joy (Charles) Hayward, Calvin (LaTorya) Cooper Jr., Sandra Cooper, and Gwendolyn Cooper, all of Rochester; a brother: Marc (Marva) Cooper of MD; sister-in-law, Thelma Cooper of Rochester; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Graveside Services and burial will be Friday, Sept. 4th, 11 am, in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse. A Memorial Mass is planned for September 5th, 10 am, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Rochester
