Michael G. Cannavino, 60, lifelong resident of the North side, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Van Duyn Nursing Home. Michael was a 1974 graduate of Henninger High School and was the son of the late George and Lucy (DeFio) Cannavino and Abner Miller who helped raise him.
Mike retired in 2002 after 25 years as a custodian with the City of Syracuse at the Syracuse International Airport. Prior to that, he worked at General Electric. Since retiring, Mike worked for Little Caesar's and Pizza Hut. He had adopted the Amish way of life. Mike was known as the celebrity stalker; he had a collection of selfies with thousands of famous people along with their autographs.
Michael is survived by two sisters: Karen (Al) Kelly of Liverpool, and Georgiann (Paul) Larkin of Syracuse; 2 nieces: Erin (Bill) Zaika of Syracuse and Janelle (Chris) Clark of Syracuse; a great niece, two great nephews, and many cousins including Dominick Sidari of Liverpool, Carmen Sidari of Baldwinsville, and Sandra Czarniewicz of Liverpool.
Graveside Services will be held on Monday, 10 am, in North Syracuse Cemetery.
