Carl A. Ritchie

Carl A. Ritchie, 93, lifelong resident of Mattydale, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026. Born in Syracuse to the late Harold and Freda Ritchie, Carl was a 1950 graduate of North Syracuse High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean War where he earned several service medals for his efforts.

Carl retired in 1995 after 43 years as an assembler at Crouse Hinds in Syracuse. He was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed woodworking and custom projects. Carl was a former member of Calvary United Methodist Church.

He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, the former Betty Jean (Thompson) in 2022 and by a step-granddaughter, Jennifer Stoltz.

He is survived by their three children: Carl (Mary Beth) Ritchie of Lakeland, Gary (Sara Lee) Ritchie of Marcellus, and Lois Ritchie of Liverpool; two grandchildren, Jessica (Jennifer) Ritchie and Liam Ritchie; two step-grandchildren, Jamie (Cory) Patchett and James (Lynn) Stoltz; two step-great-grandchildren, Rowan and Saige Patchett; a sister, Doreen Nash of Mattydale; and several nieces and nephews.
