Carol Carno, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away Monday, December 4, 2023, at Francis House. She was born on October 27, 1938, in Syracuse to the late Grant and Laura Thompson. Carol was raised in the Lyncourt/Eastwood area of Syracuse where she was a 1956 graduate of Eastwood High School.
Following school, Carol embarked on a remarkable journey of service and compassion. She poured her heart and soul into her work as the Parish Administrator at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in North Syracuse for 34 years until her retirement in 2000. In addition to being dedicated to those closest to her heart, Carol leaves behind a legacy of kindness and community service that will continue to inspire others. She was involved in various fundraising activities for St. Margaret's Church, including the St. Patrick's Day Raffle and the Angel Fund. Her efforts ensured that vital support reached those in need, bringing hope to countless lives. She enjoyed playing cards, indulging in a good book, and opening her home during the holidays to host gatherings filled with love and warmth. It became a cherished tradition for Carol to hold a special "cookie day" each year after Thanksgiving, where she delighted in baking delicious homemade treats with those she loved.
Carol was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, Nick Carno Sr., in 2009, by their children: Theresa Angona, Sandy Crosby, and Nick Carno Jr., and by a brother, John Thompson.
She is survived by her son, Ron (Teresa) Angona of Pittsford; a sister, Mary Anne Cogliandro of Eastwood; her daughter-in-law, Marla Carno of Cicero; a son-in-law, Mike Crosby of Warners; as well as her adored grandchildren: Justin (Dee) and Ryan Bartorillo, Nicholas (Kris) and Phillip Carno, Andrew, Nathan, and Daniel Crosby, who will carry forward her legacy of love. In addition to her immediate family, Carol leaves behind ten great-grandchildren who brought immense joy into her later years, and many nieces and nephews.
