Catherine M. Mayer

Catherine “Cathy” M. Mayer, 64, of Clay, passed away Saturday, December 3, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was the daughter of the late John and Laura (Caban) Soltis and 1975 graduate of North Syracuse High School.

Cathy retired in 2021 after 38 years as a customer service representative at BJ’s Wholesale in Clay. She enjoyed spending time at the family camp on the St. Lawrence River with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was the glue of their family. Cathy drank coffee with french vanilla creamer like it was going out of style and was known to relax with a Guinness by her side. She was a loving, caring, and selfless wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Cathy was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Jimmy and Jack Soltis, and her father-in-law, Richard Mayer.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Gary; her two children, Shannon (Maddy) Mayer of North Syracuse and Alicia (Chase) Countryman of Atlanta, GA; mother-in-law, Millie Mayer; her four grandchildren: Mason, Reid, Hudson, and Quinn; nieces and nephews: Jackie, Lisa, Natalie, Jennine, and Jon and several great nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Prayer Services will begin at the funeral home on Friday at 10:00 AM followed by a 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, 409 South Main Street, North Syracuse. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery.
