Kathleen Chetwin

May 25, 1931 — September 25, 2013

Kathleen Jeanette (Post) Chetwin wishes to announce a change in address. She left on the greatest adventure of her life on Wednesday, September 25. Born in Jamestown NY, to Marguerite Ballard Post and Hubert Post in May of 1931, she moved to the Syracuse area as a child. While having been a longtime resident of Liverpool, she will now reside in Heaven. She will be welcomed home by her husband of 57 years, Floyd E. Chetwin, her older brother Robert L. Post, a younger brother David Post, as well as her loving parents and all family members that have journeyed before her.

Kathy had a zest for life and loved people immersing herself in her family and the community. She was an Avon representative achieving President's Club status by earning the prestigious Mrs.Albee award for 17 years. Kathy belonged to the Syracuse Writers Group where she nurtured her gift of beautiful prose and poetry, the MAPS program through the Assembly of God, and the Crones Women's organization. For years she and her husband traveled the United States in their motor home using the talents God gave them to help mend not only broken campsites but broken souls as well. After their wondrous travels came to an end, she donated her time helping at the House at 807 in Liverpool, at the Tulip Street Seniors Center in Liverpool, the Syracuse Home in Baldwinsville, the Oaks in Dewitt, and at the Hearth at Greenpoint in Liverpool. She will always be remembered at these places for her crazy hats, outrageous outfits, and endearing stories. Kathy loved being part of the family at the Wetzel Road Church for Christ in Liverpool.

Kathy is survived by her six children: Cliff (Judy), Michael (Libby), Linda (Michael), Trisha (Steve), Tom, and Debbie (Ken); 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and two sisters: Barbara (Edward) Saarie and Margaret (Doug) Cole.

For all those who knew Kathy, her zest for life can best be summed up by the "Motto To Live By --Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, latte in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming, "WHOO HOO, what a ride!" (anon)"

Contributions in Kathy's memory may be made to the Syracuse Home Activity Fund,7740 Meigs Rd, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.

Calling hours will be held from 10-11am at the Wetzel Road Church of Christ on Saturday, October 12, followed by a Celebration of Life Service from 11am-12pm.
