Pulaski

It is with great honor and pride that we say our final good-bye to our Father, brother, grandfather and leader of our family, Clarence “Clary” Pawlewitz, 92, on Monday September 28 after a brief stay at Crouse Hospital and St. Camillus Rehabilitation Center, Clary lived his life to the fullest in the homes he built with the love of his life Shirley, in Liverpool NY and on his beautiful Lake Ontario. Clary had a life well lived and shared over many years and as of lately with his cherished friends on the “Road!” You were all like brothers and sisters to him. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Pete and Sandy, Jenn, Jamie, Amy, Caroline and Louie, Louie Jr., Dirk and Diane, Pete and Laura, Kevin and Diane, Val and Joe, Joe and Donna, neighbor Mike, Mark and Mrs. Hutchings, Michelle and Tina and the Russo’s on “The Pond!” Thank you all for your loyal friendships. You made an everlasting impact on his life, and our family is grateful knowing he was not only in good hands…...but in good company.

Clary was a true craftsman: A very well-known commercial and home builder, wood worker, welder, mason, electrician, painter, businessman and entrepreneur. He loved to share his craft by helping others have the nicest homes possible, the man had “class!” Clary leaves a legacy of leadership, friendship and partnership to everyone he met. His detail to perfection and critical eye made his construction sought after. He solved problems by finding the solution. He was a real artist. When Clary wasn’t fixing, breaking (only to fix again) or making things, he enjoyed deep conversations on religion, family, history, politics, sports (GO SU and The Giants!) and the future of our country and his Lake Ontario. He emphasized family values, independence, kindness, loyalty and honesty. Clary’s favorite quote was, “Knowledge Is Power.” He said it was etched on the side of Mattydale elementary school. Clary never ceased to amaze and educate anyone who enjoyed sitting and visiting with him over a cold beer and Jezynowka. He believed in telling the truth, speaking with conviction, becoming open minded and present for everyone who was a part of his world. Clary’s physical and mental strength, his deep family roots, his cherished traditions, and acknowledging accomplishments of others taught us to love one another. Life is too short.

Clary and his family spent over 60 years growing, loving, laughing and celebrate life on “The Lake.” Clary and Shirley frequented the Sandy Pond Sportsman’s Club which he built and will remain a lifetime member. So…. here’s to Hal and Jeannie, Davey and Janet Bernice, Carl and Goobsy, and long-time friends, Airplane and Brian. Thank you for the Turkey Shoots, Christmas parties, wild game dinners, The Queen of Hearts, and beer!!!! Cheers friends- “down and dirty.” “The Bus is Leaving!”

Clary is predeceased by his parents Leonard Sr, and Veronica Pawlewitz, brother Irwin Pawlewitz, beloved wife Shirley Pawlewitz, and sons Michael and Patrick (Bro P) Pawlewitz Sr.

Clary is survived by his sister, Gloria, and brothers, Lenny and Joey; as well and his loving and caring nieces, Donna and Lenise. Clary will be forever and ever, missed, admired, cherished and celebrated by his three very strong, smart and bold Daughters: Darlene (John), Cathy (Sam) and Chrissy (Mike). Our bonds are unbreakable. Thank you for raising us with morals and values and leaving us with a lifetime of memories. Clary took an interest in all of his grandchildren’s lives and enjoyed catching up with them at annual holiday dinners and “doings.” Grandpa/Papa had 13 beautiful and loving grandchildren: Aimee Hammond, April DeRosa, Chad Hammond, Eileen Strodel, Rachel Strodel, Patrick Pawlewitz Jr. (Little Pat), Claire Pawlewitz, Riley Pawlewitz, Jack Meagher, Mallory Meagher, Brianne (Breezy) Swistak, Shelby Burrows and Logan Burrows. In addition, God gave Clary 8 Great Grandchildren: Alexandre’ (little Alex) Hammond, Amelia DeRosa, Juliet DeRosa, Bradley Pawlewitz, Mason Pawlewitz and Austin (AJ) Pawlewitz, Iris Burrows, Melrose James (Rosie) and Josie Swistak. Clary’s very close and personal friends and family include his Son-in-law John Strodel, Alex DeRosa, Neil Conner, Ruthie Strodel, Katy Dietz, Sarah O’Hara, Michael Wood, Maude Boayue and Debbie DiGiacomo.

Clary’s daughters would like to acknowledge some special people who went above and beyond the call of duty, without request or hesitation and at times putting their lives on hold to be of service to their Dad: John Strodel, Mike Wood, Jamie Foster, Dirk Fobes, Kevin Daley, Caroline Petrocci, Sandy Laun and Hal Goodfriend. Last but not least…. his “People” Chad Hammond, Pat Pawlewitz and Breezy Burrows. Their constant contact and ongoing support and deep love and admiration for their Grandpa/Papa, brought tears of joy to our Dad and his family. Thank you for all that you have done. You are loved beyond words.

Please make any donations in Clary’s name to: Crouse Hospital (4th floor), St. Camillus (KB Unit) or to The Sandy Pond Sportsman’s Club. Special thanks to Clary’s nurses and therapists. You all know who you are. Thank you for being a part of his life! Rest in Peace Dad, Your name will live on forever.
