Delcie M. Muehl, 84, of Mattydale, passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 30, 2026. Delcie was born and raised in North Bangor, NY and graduated from Franklin Academy in Malone in 1960. She attended SUNY Plattsburgh and was the daughter of the late Vernon and Mary (Todd) Childs.
Delcie worked as a sales clerk at Switz's in North Syracuse for 10 years and Michael's Arts & Crafts in Northern Lights for 9 years before retiring. She was a talented artist who liked doing arts and crafts, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and painting. Delcie also enjoyed gardening and animals, especially her two cats, Brandy and Peggy Sue, through the years. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and Prayer Shawl Ministry and a former member of the North Syracuse Art Guild when her best friend, Alberta (Buffy) Desantis, encouraged her to join many decades ago. Delcie was a longtime communicant of St. Margaret's Church where she was in charge of their Religious Education Program for three years, served as a Eucharistic Minister, and sung in their Funeral Choir.
Delcie was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, James Muehl and by her brother, William Childs.
She is survived by their two daughters: Mary Ward of Mattydale and Jane Muehl of Central Square; two grandchildren, Danielle and Jennifer Pope; two great grandchildren, Jaylin and Ryin Pope; her three siblings: Diane Rockhill of Brushton, NY, Dennis Childs of MD, and Philip Childs of IN; and many nieces and nephews.

Her family would like to thank all the wonderful doctors she had throughout the years and the staff at Iroquois Nursing Home in Jamesville, NY for caring for her over the past year and previous rehabilitation stays.
Friends may call on Monday, April 13, from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Prayer Services will begin on Tuesday, April 14, 9:30 am at the funeral home with a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial following at St. Margaret's Church. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery.
