Mary Jane DiGiacomo

November 29, 1928 — January 2, 2018

Mary Jane DiGiacomo, 89, of Bridgeport, died Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018 at Francis House. Born and raised in Rochester, Mary Jane was a 1946 graduate of East High. She was the daughter of the late Santo and Maria (Antista) Scavuzzo. Mary Jane was a longtime resident of the Fairmount area where she raised her family before moving to Bridgeport, where she resided for the past 20 years.

Mary Jane retired from Albert Damian Associates in Mattydale after 40 years as a Client Customer Service Liaison. She volunteered at Van Duyn Hospital, the Ronald McDonald House, and Vera House. She was a member of the Lamplighters Dance Club and especially enjoyed line dancing and clogging. Mary Jane was also a member of Brightonaries Home Bureau. She was the Secretary and President of Catholic War Veterans' Auxiliary and served as the Secretary for Holy Family Church Altar Rosary Society. Mary Jane was a member of St. Francis of Assisi in Bridgeport where she was active in their Altar Rosary Society and served as a Lector.

She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Al DiGiacomo, in 2003.

Mary Jane is survived by her four children: Deborah (David) Louise of Camillus, Stephanie (Donald) Podejko of Central Square, Albert D. (Mary Beth) DiGiacomo of Liverpool, Donna DiGiacomo of Baldwinsville; a brother: George Scavuzzo of Rochester; a sister-in-law, Marie "Mercie" DiGiacomo of Rochester; nine grandchildren: Michael, Donald, Lisa, John David, Christopher, Rebecca, Jennifer, Taylor and Kade; and nine great grandchildren: Brooke Marie, Austin, Kiara, Antonio, Tessa, Amelia Mary, Cienna, Logan, and Mariana.

Donations in Mary Jane's memory may be made to either Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208 or to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.

Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A Prayer service will begin at the funeral home on Saturday, 9:30 am, followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret's Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
