Dorothy M. Downing

Dorothy M. Downing, 82, of Cicero, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025. She was born in Syracuse to the late John and Gertrude (Switzer) Petroffski. Dorothy grew up in Mattydale where she was a 1961 graduate of North Syracuse High School and resided in North Syracuse for many years before moving to Cicero. She was a loving Mother, Wife, Sister and Grandmother. She enjoyed traveling and dearly loved her family and friends. She loved her little dog Mahija. She was also a huge Elvis fan and loved listening to music. Dorothy served for many years as secretary for the Central New York Street Rod car club and later worked in the office for the Syracuse Nationals.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Howard. She is survived by her children, Howard Downing Jr. of Central Square and Connie (Thomas Drumm) Downing-Noel of Cicero; a brother, John Petroffski of Chittenango; grandchildren: Nathan (Katera), Sabrina, Vanessa, Quinton and Colton; and several nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made to a Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool NY 13088.

Friends may call on Friday, October 10th, from 4:00 -7:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Funeral Services will begin at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse.
