Edward Szymanski

Edward “Edju” Szymanski, 72, of Solvay, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2025. Edward resided in Syracuse for most of his life except several years spent in California and Cato, NY, before returning in 2007. He was a 1972 graduate of Grant High School and the son of the late Michael and Irmgard Szymanski.

Edward worked for General Electric and later at Lockheed Martin in the Radar Division. He retired from Lockheed Martin in 1997 after 25 years. Since then, he was a truck driver for several local trucking companies in the Syracuse area. Edward enjoyed photography and playing guitar. He was an avid NASCAR fan, liked to watch the local racing circuit, and most of all, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Edward was predeceased by his sister, Regina Szymanski. Surviving are his three children: Samantha M. Piano of Tipp Hill, Edward J. Szymanski of Fulton, and Alysha A. (Joseph Benedix) Szymanski of Banning, CA; his former wife and longtime friend, Diane Nothacker of MS; six siblings: Tammy (Michael) Biro, Jane Pieropan, Christine Capria, John (Laurie) Szymanski, Richard Szymanski, and Walter (Lowella) Szymanski. He was grandfather to Nicholas Piano, Bailey Paquette, and Lucy Benedix; and uncle to several nieces and nephews.
