Obituary

Eileen “Lee” (Linnertz) Cash, 69, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Lee was born in North Syracuse to the late Raymond and Joan (Ryan) Linnertz. She was a 1974 graduate of North Syracuse High and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree at Oswego State and a Masters degree in Social Work from Syracuse University.

Lee taught Spanish at Camden Central Schools. Prior to teaching, she was employed as a social worker at Catholic Charities and Huntington Family Center. A lifelong volunteer, she supported organizations including the Syracuse Rape Crisis Center, Francis House, CNY Cat Coalition, Exceptional Family Resources, and Angel Gowns of Western NY.

Lee cherished being an aunt, loved her standard poodles, fostering kittens and was an award-winning knitter and crocheter at the NYS Fair. She was a kind-hearted friend to all and always willing to lend an ear.

She was predeceased by her fiancé, Larry Graves and by her sister, Ann.

Lee is survived by her siblings: Kathleen (Mark) Mazzye, Mary Linnertz, Paul (Debbie) Linnertz, and John (Katy) Linnertz, and 11 nieces and nephews: Joe, Mark Jr, Colleen, Katie, Amanda, Paul Jr, Tom, Sarah, Julia, Abby and Ryan.

Contributions in Lee’s memory may be made to the CNY Cat Coalition, PO Box 6182, Syracuse, NY 13217 or HOPE for the Bereaved, 4500 Onondaga Blvd., Syracuse, NY 13219.

Friends may call on Tuesday, May 26th, from 4:00- 6:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd, Mattydale. Services will begin at 10:00 am Wednesday at the funeral home with burial following in North Syracuse Cemetery.
