Max J. Fleming

January 10, 1924 — December 23, 2013

Max J. Fleming, 89, of Mattydale, died Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Max was born and raised in St. John's Newfoundland to the late Michael and Theresa Fleming. He resided in Mattydale for the past 61 years.

Max retired in 1986 after 45 years as a sheet metal worker for the Local #58 in Syracuse. He enjoyed woodworking and camping in River Forest Campgrounds for many years. Max was a longtime communicant of St. Margaret's Church.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Rose A. (Ayerst); their six children: Maxine (Larry) Barber of Liverpool, Michael (Jackie) Fleming of Brewerton, Cindy Drew of Mattydale, Diane Teska of Mattydale, Lori (Mark) Brosh of Liverpool, and Dan (Michelle) Fleming of Cicero; a sister: Rose Kearsey of St. John's, Newfoundland. Max was the grandfather to 19, Great Grandfather to 16, and Uncle to several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Prayer Services will begin on Saturday, 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret's Church, 203 Roxboro Rd., Mattydale. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery.
