Thomas "Tom" F. Foley, 50, of Lind Ave in Mattydale, died Sunday at Stonehedge Nursing Home in Chittenango. He grew up in Mattydale and was the son of the late James E. and Sally McGillicuddy Foley.
Tom was a 1977 graduate of North Syracuse High and received an Associates Degree in Machine Technology from OCC in 1996. He served in the Army Reserves in Odessa, TX for several years. While in Texas, he worked in the oil fields for 10 years. Since then, Tom worked as a machinist for the past 10 years for Nixon Gear in Solvay until he was forced to leave due to an illness in 2006. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting on the Southern Tier, fishing in Nine Mile Creek and playing pool.
He was predeceased by his brother, Jimmer Foley, and his sister, Joanie Kowalski.
Surviving are his two sons: Thomas and Robert Foley of Graham, TX; a grandson, Chase Foley of TX; his three sisters: Elia Dick McClusky of Solvay, Sally Anne Michael Chaffee Scalzo of Mattydale, and Mary Ellen "Mimi" Tim Scouten of Baldwinsville; three brothers: Michael O'Mara of North Syracuse, John Kathy Foley of Tipp Hill, James Priano Jr. of Los Angeles; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and several great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Services will follow at 7:00 pm. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse. Contributions may be made to the family, c/o Sally Scalzo, 116 Lind Ave, Mattydale NY 13211.
