James W. "Jim" Funson

James W. Funson, 63, formerly of Fay Road, Syracuse, passed away Friday, August 14, 2020 at Loretto Nursing Home. Jim was a life resident of Syracuse and resident of Mattydale before moving to McCarthy Manor in Syracuse in 2007.

Jim was an Alumni of LeMoyne College and later received his Masters’ Degree in Television Production from the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Jim worked as Director of Television for the Catholic Diocese of Syracuse from 1983-2004 and also worked as an adjunct instructor for television production at LeMoyne College from 1993-2002. He has been in charge of the LeMoyne College television production of commencement exercises since 1988. Jim was a founding member of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee in 1983 and received the Shamrock Award in 1993. He enjoyed golfing.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, the late James “Bill” Funson Sr. and Peggy (Reagan) Funson. He is survived by several special friends.

Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 am – 10:00 am at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception Church in Syracuse with a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial following.
