Genesis Skye Oakes - Bowman

Genesis Skye Oakes-Bowman, 10, of Mattydale, passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 19, 2025. Genesis was raised in Mattydale and resided in North Syracuse for the past 3 years. She was in 5th grade at Roxboro Middle School in Miss Bidwell’s class.

Genesis was part of the school chorus and loved singing and dancing. She was extremely artistic, was learning the violin, and was a friend to many. Genesis enjoyed almost anything outdoors including camping, fishing, going to the beach, and was learning to shoot a BB gun with her cousin. Though she was only with us for a short time, Genesis touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her mother, Crystal Oakes with whom she resided; father, Randy Bowman; a sister, Khaleesi, at home; her maternal grandmother, Brenda Oakes of Mattydale; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
