Gerald W. Finley

Gerald W. Finley, 85, of North Syracuse, passed away Monday, January 23, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. The son of the late Earl and Irene (Durham) Finley, Gerald grew up in Ogdensburg, NY. He resided in Mattydale for 10 years before settling his family home in North Syracuse in 1966.

Gerald retired in 1998 after more than 30 years as a foreman with Carrier Corporation. He was an accomplished woodworker and carpenter who constructed his own home on Totman Road. He enjoyed hunting and camping with his family. For 15 years, Gerald maintained a winter residence in Brooksville, Florida. He was a member of the Lyncourt Wesleyan Church.

He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Katharine Finley, in 2000.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 18 years, the former Madeline (LaCombe); his two children, Beverly (Michael) Izzo of North Syracuse and David (Susan) Finley of Cicero; his siblings, Maynard Finley and Viola Gilson, both of Ogdensburg; his four grandchildren: Brian, Jeffrey, David, and Krista; five great grandchildren: Riley, Rowan, Jacey, Jacob, and Brielle; and several nieces and nephews.
