Mary Goodnow

Mary Jane ?M.J.? Goodnow, 67, of Malden Road in Mattydale, died peacefully Thursday with her family by her side. Mary Jane grew up in Curwensville, PA and resided in Mattydale since 1978. She was the daughter of the late Quentin E. and Lucille Passmore Maines.
M.J. was a graduate of Girl Haven High School Class of 1960 in Hollidaysburg, PA. She retired in 2010 after 12 years as a school bus attendant for the North Syracuse School District; prior to that, Mary Jane worked as a CNA for Birchwood Heath Center and at Miller Brewing Co. in Fulton. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Mattydale American Legion Post #1832 and attended Faith Lutheran Church in Cicero. M.J. enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool and darts, as well as frequent trips to Turning Stone Casino.
Mary Jane was predeceased by her husband of 21 years, Monte G. Goodnow, in 1996.
She leaves behind her two children: Brian Maines and Drena James Rapp, both of Mattydale; six grandchildren: Jeremy and Christopher Zajas, Alex and Ryan Rapp, Jarrett McDonald and Joshua Blair-Maines; her sister: Debra Doug Stanton of Rochester, NH; and a brother: Philip Maines of San Diego, CA.
Friends may call on Sunday from 12-2 pm and 5-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Services will begin on Monday at 10 am at the funeral home followed by burial in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay. Contributions in M.J.?s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons St. Box # 7, East Syracuse NY 13057 or to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North Street, Liverpool NY 13088.
