Gretchen Stevens

Gretchen Stevens, 80, of Pitcher Hill, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023, at Sunnyside Care Center. Gretchen was the daughter of the late Reed and Kate (Fehr) Stevens and was raised in the Tipp Hill area. She was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School in Syracuse and received her Nursing Accreditation for Crouse School of Nursing in 1963.

 Gretchen worked as a Registered Nurse on the Blood Mobile for the American Red Cross for several years and in the Pediatric Unit for Crouse Hospital for 40 years before retiring in 2005. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and making dolls. She was fond of traveling on cruise ships and especially enjoyed her Alaskan Cruise.

In addition to her parents, Gretchen was predeceased by her brother, Reed “Butch” Stevens, a brother-in-law, Wayne T. Lampe and her best friend, Mary Martin.

She is survived by a sister, Kathryn Lampe of Orangeville IL; several nieces and nephews including Lisa Wood with whom she resided; a sister-in-law, Peg Stevens of Syracuse; and many great nieces and great nephews, and great great nieces and great great nephews.
