Rev. Harry E. Dean, 90, long-time resident of Mattydale, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025. Born to the late Clarence and Arlene Dean, Harry grew up in the East Syracuse area where he graduated from East Syracuse High School in 1952. He served as a US Army medic in Korea.
Rev. Dean retired after 46 years at Bristol Myers Squibb in Syracuse. He was an ordained minister with the Interdenominational Spiritual Church since 1971. Harry was a past president of the Mattydale-Hinsdale Senior Citizens Group as well as a longtime member. His passion was studying bible scripture and writing inspirational lessons to share and teach others of the Bible. Rev. Dean could often be caught singing bible hymns whenever he had the chance. He also enjoyed camping in the Adirondacks with his family.
Rev. Dean was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, the former Janice (Otis) in 2019. He is survived by their three children: Richard (Susan) Dean of Parish, Carol (Randall) Fritcher of Mattydale, and John Dean of Jamesville; five grandchildren: Joshua (Christina), Jesse (Megan), Amanda (James), Joshua, and Samantha; and nine great grandchildren: Thorin, Cadarina, Wyatt, Scarlett, Isabella, Aurora, James IV “JT”, Michael, and Matthew.
Friends may call on Tuesday, April 22, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Funeral Services will begin on Wednesday, 1:00 pm, at the funeral home followed by burial in White Chapel Memory Gardens, Dewitt.
