James Robert "Bob" Hile, 89, of Kirkville, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026. Bob was born in Clearfield, PA and resided in Kirkville most of his life. He was the son of the late Ralph and Ethel (Ogden) Hile.
Bob attended Mohawk Valley Community College and was a member of the 108th Air Control & Warning NYANG from 1957-61. In 1961-62, he served in the Air Force during the Berlin Crisis in Germany. Bob was employed by Carrier Corp. in Syracuse for 38 years as a Design Reliability Engineer before retiring in 1994. James was a member of the Board and Chairman of the Missions Committee of Alive Wesleyan Church in Kirkville. He attended short term mission trips to Haiti, was an avid car collector, and was a member of the Antique Automobile Club.
James is survived by his wife of 68 years, the former Millie (Porter); their four children: Timothy A. Hile of Chittenango, Theodore A. Hile of North Syracuse, Tamara A. (Brent) Settlemyre of Wilmington, NC, and Tiffeny A. (Thomas) Scott of Warners; and seven grandchildren: Destinee, Robert, Hunter, Savannah, Christiana, Clayton, and Eden.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Funeral Services are on Friday, 10:00 am at Alive Wesleyan Church, 7691 Bridgeport Kirkville Road, Kirkville, NY. Private Burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery, Kirkville.
