Helen John

Helen Margaret John, 84, of Skiff Drive, Mattydale, passed away Tuesday at home. Helen was a native of Syracuse and resided in Mattydale for the past 58 years. She was the daughter of the late Carl Kunai and Hazel Troy and attended the Cathedral Parochial School.
Helen worked for several years in the Deli Department at Tops Market and later P & C Grocery Store in Mattydale. She loved to travel and spend time with her family.
She was predeceased by her two sons, James K. Jacobs in 1993 and Rocco John Jr. in 2007. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Rocco John, her children: Sharon Earl May of Mattydale, Sandra Michael Valerio of Memphis, NY, Walter Frank Nancy John of Syracuse, Frank Leon John of Arkansas, and Michael Carl Loren John of East Syracuse; a daughter-in-law, Janet John of Clay; a sister: Theresa Dobrowolski, a brother Martin Kunai of Missouri, 20 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4-7 pm Friday at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10 am at the funeral home followed by burial in Assumption Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse NY 13208.
