Kathryn J LaVeck

Kathryn “Kathy” Jane LaVeck, 68, of Mattydale NY, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday. Born in Flint, Michigan, she grew up in Grand Blanc and was the daughter of the late William Arvin and Hattie Horne.

Kathy Graduated from Grand Blanc high School in 1975 and then attended the University of Michigan where she received her Assoc. Degree.

She retired in 2019 after 37 years with Excellus BCBS in Dewitt as a Web Master and filled her days with the things she loved most: her family, cruises, bingo with friends, and magical trips to Walt Disney World.

Kathy was predeceased by her infant brother William and her “shisher,” Jan Fritzler, as well as her cat Sammi.

She is survived by her children, Allison (Kevin) LaVeck-Francisco, her son Chris LaVeck, and her greatest joys — her grandchildren Joseph, Christopher, Matthew, Kaylyn, Beckham, and Brayden — who knew her as Ama, Mimi, or Grandma.

Kathy will be remembered for her humor, warmth, and the love she poured into her family.

Friends may call on Saturday from 3-6 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, followed by a celebration of life at 6 pm.
