Mary Kinnetz

July 4, 1929 — October 3, 2016

Mary L. Kinnetz, born on July 4, 1929, passed away at the age of 87 on Monday, October 3, 2016. Mary was a native of Central NY, graduating from Cincinnatus High School in 1947. She then studied at Houghton College and Columbia Presbyterian School of Nursing to become a Registered Nurse. Mary was the daughter of the late G. Clarke and Marguerite (Waggoner) La Celle. She was highly inspired by her parents’ Wesleyan Church faith. She was a past member of Malden Road United Church of Christ and Andrews Memorial Church.

Mary spent her entire life caring for others. She began her career at Syracuse Memorial Hospital working in Labor and Delivery. Following that she was a nurse with the Visiting Nurse Association. She spent many years working in the North Syracuse School District as a school nurse, at Bessie B. Riordan, Main Street and Roxboro Road Elementary schools, before retiring in 1991. For many years after her retirement, she devoted time to her grandchildren.

Mary shared her love of bird-watching and gardening with many members of her family. She was an avid reader, finding joy in both books and comics, and enjoyed doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was also very creative and musically inclined, playing the piano since childhood. She enjoyed sewing and knitting, and handmade many items for family members throughout the years, especially for babies as they were born into the family.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her twin brother, Dr. Paul L. La Celle.

Mary is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ronald F. Kinnetz; their two sons and daughters in law: Gregory and Nancy of Liverpool, Douglas and Laura of Canastota, and; her three siblings: Dr. John La Celle, James La Celle, and Esther Pitzrick, all of Orwell; three grandchildren: Derek, Michaela, and Emma; her two great grandchildren: Alexis and Logan; and by several nieces and nephews.

Charitable donations in her memory may be made to either Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208 or to NAVAC, P.O. Box 215, North Syracuse, NY 13212.
