Linda J. Greenwood

Linda J. Greenwood, 76, a longtime resident of Mattydale, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Elderwood in Liverpool. Born in Lowville, New York, Linda was the daughter of the late Francis and Laverne Maring. She was a 1967 graduate of Lowville Academy and pursued nursing school in Albany during the 1970s.

Linda was dedicated to the National Safety Council in Liverpool, where she served as a program coordinator for many years before retiring. Linda was a long-time member of the Mattydale Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Her love for community was matched by her enjoyment for spending time with family and friends, playing cards, baking, gardening, reading, and counter cross stitch.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Tod Greenwood, in 2009.

Linda is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, David Greenwood; her daughter, Jodi Greenwood of North Syracuse; two stepdaughters, Kelly Greenwood of Mattydale and Jennifer Greenwood of Liverpool; a brother, Michael Maring of Virginia; five sisters: Chris Maciejko of Turin, Sandy Lane of Turin, Shirley Essenlohr of Croghan, JoAnne Maring of Lowville, and Amy VanAlstyne of Pennellville; several nieces and nephews; and two grand pup, Avery and Lola.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made in Linda’s memory to an animal charity of your choice.

Friends may call on Thursday, September 24th, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale, with a Funeral Service following at 7:00 pm.
