Joan B. Linnertz died peacefully at her home in North Syracuse on Friday, September18, surrounded by her family. Joan Blanche Ryan was born in Hopkins, Minnesota to Raymond and Esther Ryan. She was raised in a large, extended Irish family throughout the Midwest, but identified Fargo, North Dakota as her home town. During periods of her life, she also did volunteer work at St Rose of Lima School, Red Cross Blood Drives, Vincent House and North Area Meals on Wheels. Recently, she was very involved in the Syracuse Women’s Civic Social Club and she was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church.
Joan was predeceased by her husband, Raymond, in 2000 and her daughter, Ann, in 2013.
She is survived by daughters: Kathleen (Mark) Mazzye, Eileen Cash, Mary Linnertz; sons: Paul (Debbie), John (Katy); and a son-in-law, George Arthur. She leaves 11 wonderful grandchildren: Joe (Melody) Branigan, Mark Mazzye Jr, Colleen (Jay) DeRienzo, Katie (Brian) Powell, Amanda (Brett) Ferguson, Paul (Sara) Linnertz, Sarah, Abby, Ryan Linnertz and Tom and Julia Arthur.
