Dustin J. Magarrell, 40, formerly of Greenbriar Road in North Syracuse, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 3. Born in Bremerton, Washington State, Dustin moved around the US with his father’s naval deployment while growing up, including time spent in Georgia and Connecticut. He attended CNS with the Class of 1998 and resided in North Syracuse, Camillus, and the City of Syracuse for 20 years.
If you ever ate at a restaurant in the Syracuse area, Dustin might have served you a meal and made you smile. You likely left him a great tip because he was kind, attentive, and had a mischievous smile that brought joy to everyone he met. Dustin was an independent soul who had an opinion on most things. He could bring humor into any situation to lighten the mood. He also never passed up an adventure. Dustin loved music, food, sports, and camping or riding something on two or more wheels outdoors. More than all of that, he loved his daughter and providing a good life for her was his greatest wish.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Regina Mobley, and paternal grandfather, Al Magarrell.
Dustin is survived by his parents, Debbie Magarrell of Camillus and Dennis (Roz) Magarrell of Delray Beach, FL; a daughter, Alexa Magarrell of Nashville, TN; three brothers, Dane Magarrell of Cicero, Drew Magarrell of Solvay, and Dylan Magarrell of Verona, NJ; maternal grandfather, Carl Mobley of Braymer, MO; paternal grandmother, Betty Carlson of Spokane, WA; and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dustin’s memory may be made to his Memorial GoFundMe Campaign to benefit his daughter Alexa’s education and future at https://gofund.me/00f92f3c
