Marlene J. Sullivan, 88, long-time resident of Potsdam, passed away Thursday, June 11th, 2026. Born to the late Daniel and Evelyn Sullivan, Marlene was raised and graduated from Potsdam High School.

Marlene began her career working for two lawyers in her hometown. Her career flourished when one of the lawyers became a Family Court Judge, and she continued her employment as his secretary. After many years working within the St Lawrence County Court system, Marlene retired as the Chief Clerk for the St. Lawrence County Surrogate's Court and became a member of the New York State Retired Employees. She found joy in volunteering her time at Potsdam Hospital and later at St. Margaret's Food Pantry, reflecting her commitment to helping others. In her leisure time, Marlene enjoyed bowling, visiting casinos, and traveling. Marlene relocated to the Mattydale area to be closer to her sister in (year) and was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church in Mattydale.

She is survived by a sister, Cheryl Canfield of Mattydale; 2 nephews, Daniel and Sean; 10 great nieces and nephews; and 4 great, great nieces and nephews.

Contributions in Marlene’s memory may be made to St. Margaret’s Food Pantry, 203 Roxboro Road, Mattydale, NY 13211.

The family would like to thank all who took care of her – the staff at Elderwood, Centerwell Home Care, and numerous individuals who provided companionship.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 18th, at 1:00 pm in St. Margaret’s Church, 200 Roxboro Road, Mattydale. Private burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Potsdam.
