Michael A. Martell, 67, lifelong resident of Brewerton, died Monday, May 1st, at Sunnyside Nursing Care. Michael was a 1969 graduate of P.V. Moore High School in Central Square and the son of the late Joseph and Norma (Credno) Martell.
Mike retired in 2005 after 35 years as a custodian with the Central Square School District. He was a NASCAR enthusiast that followed Dale Earnhardt Jr. Michael was a member of the CNY Model Train Organization and was recognized at the Annual Model Train Fair held at the NYS Fairgrounds. He also was a fan of Disney and enjoyed going to Disney World in Orlando.
He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Nancy Martell, and by his beloved cousin, Linda Pesce.
Michael is survived his seven siblings: Patt (Larry) Briest of Brewerton, Rick (Denise) Martell of Brewerton, Diane (Michael) Martell-Rafferty of Central Square, Donald Martell of Charlotte, NC, David Martell of Cicero, Jeanmarie (Stephen) Glasser of Liverpool, and Steve (Mari Grace) Martell of Syracuse; 16 nieces and nephews; and by several great nieces and nephews.
Donations in Mike's memory may be made to the Golisano Children's Hospital, c/o Upstate Medical University, 750 East Adams Street, CAB326, Syracuse, NY 13210.
All services were held privately at the family's convenience.
