Mary Ann Gladysz

On 9/12/2026 our much loved sister, Mary Ann Gladysz, left this world to meet up with her parents and babcia. Mary Ann was a kind and gentle soul who always thought of others before herself. She grew up in Mattydale and lived there all her life. She went to school at St. Margaret’s and continued her studies at The Convent School. After high school she went to Austria to become a nanny and continue her studies. Once she came back to the States, she graduated Magna Cum Lade with a bachelor’s degree in Languages from Syracuse University.

She then became employed by Onondaga County as a case worker and retired from there after 25 years. In her retirement years she finally had time for her books and her lifelong passion for them until her health problems took over.

Mary Ann is predeceased by her parents and grandparents along with her friend, Donna Palmer.

She leaves behind her sisters, Joanne and Liz who loved her more than she knew; along with her lifelong friend Chris and husband Jim Wenger, Mary Frances Clark, her cousins: Tom, Kate and Ambrose Bielec who came to her aid whenever needed, and of course her good friend Duane Coughenour – who she had many spirited conversations with; her “pal” Sue Szymanoski; and lastly her godson Jason Denny who was the light of her life.

In the future when you think of Mary Ann please don’t cry but smile – she would love that. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Central NY SPCA, 5878 East Molloy Road, Mattydale, NY 13211.
