Daniel Masters

Daniel C. Masters, 26, of Beley Ave., Mattydale, died Thursday in Nashville Tenn. He grew up in Warners and graduated from West Genesee High School in 2003. Danny loved to play hockey and did so since he was 4 years old. He was a member of the 2001 state championship team at West Genny; known as "Caveman" by his teammates and fans. He was remembered to all that knew him as a gentle giant because he would be the first to come to anyone's aid when it was needed.
Daniel joined the Army in 2006 and served with the 101st Airbourne as a Specialist E-4 in the Iraqi war for more than a year where he learned to fully understand the meaning of TEAM. Since his honorable discharge in 2010, he had been residing with his mother and his step father where he had been battling Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.
He is survived by his parents Robert Masters of Camillus and Jean Tom Herbert of Mattydale, his wife Karen of Tennessee, a daughter Kaylie Brea of Tennessee, his brother Nate Marnie Kortrite Masters of Warners, his Maternal Grandparents Ed and Jean Spencer of Warners, his Maternal Great Grandmothers Gladys DiRisio of Jordan and Eleanor Spencer of Baldwinsville, two nephews; Dillon and Ryan Masters whom he had a special kinship with as well as a niece Lexi Proietti, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Services will be held at the funeral home at 10 am Thursday followed by burial with full military honors in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
