Dorothy McLaughlin

Dorothy S. McLaughlin, 88, formerly of East Syracuse, died Wednesday at Birchwood Heath Care. Dorothy grew up in Mattydale and was a 1943 graduate of North High School. She resided in the East Syracuse area for over 55 years and was the daughter of the late Edward and Edna (Newman) Schmidt.

Dorothy worked for New York Telephone Company during the 1950's. She enjoyed bingo, playing cards, and bowling primarily at Fremont Lanes and Flamingo Bowling Center. Dorothy loved spending time with her family. She attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Liverpool and was a member of R.C.I.A. at St. Mathew's Church.

She was predeceased by her siblings: Edward, Beverly, and Edna.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 61 years, Paul McLaughlin; three children: Michael (Lisa) McLaughlin of Liverpool, Thomas (Virginia) McLaughlin of Baldwinsville, and Kathleen Tracy of Liverpool; her three siblings: Kenneth Schmidt of Boonville, Carol Street of Manlius, and Jean Pudney of Liverpool; six grandchildren: Thomas, Timothy, Theresa, Kristen, Michael, and Kevin; and her great grandson, Louie.

Contributions in Dorothy's memory may be made to Mary's Pantry at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 425 Beechwood Ave., Liverpool, NY 13088.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff at Elderwood Health Center at Birchwood for the wonderful care Dorothy received during her stay.
