Nicolay Wolowik

Nicolay “Nick” Wolowik, 74, of Liverpool passed away Thursday. Nick grew up in the Camillus area and has resided in Liverpool since 1985 He was the son of the late Wasyl and Rose Wolowik and was a 1968 graduate of Corcoran High School

Nick retired in 2013 after 43 years as an HVAC Technician for the Syracuse University. He was communicant of St. Margaret’s Church in Mattydale. Nick was an avid golf enthusiast and was a member of several leagues in the area. He also enjoyed traveling and cruising domestically and abroad.

He was predeceased by his sister Ludmila Prokopiw in 2012, and is survived by his wife of 50 years the former Maureen Scanlan, two children Nick Wolowik of Granby, Heather (Aaron) Kary of Eagan MN, a sister Valentina Kelley of Liverpool, two sisters-in-law Linda Scanlan and Pat (Gary) Zimmer, a granddaughter Taylor Cefalo of Marcellus, several nieces and nephews.

Contributions may be made in his memory to the Food Bank of CNY 7066 Interstate Island Rd. Syracuse, NY 13209 or the Humane Society 4915 W. Taft Rd. Liverpool, NY 13088.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Prayer services will begin at 9:30 am Thursday at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St Margaret’s Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
