Natalia "Nellie" Overmier

Natalia "Nellie" (Domingos) Overmier, 93, former longtime resident of Mattydale, died Sunday, January 1, 2017, at the Episcopal Church Home in Rochester. Nellie was born in Chicopee Falls and resided in Utica and Massena before moving to Mattydale in 1945. She was the daughter of the late Acacio and Joaquina (Rodriques) Domingos.
Nellie retired in 1983 after 25 years as an office worker for General Electric. She was very active in many church related functions while her husband served as Pastor. Nellie volunteered for North Area Meals on Wheels and enjoyed playing bridge with the same people since 1983. She attended various United Methodist area churches, most recently on Malden Road. Natalia was, to quote her late husband, Bob: "By far, the most beautiful girl that ever lived!"
Natalia was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Rev. Robert "Bob" Overmier, in 2013, a son, Cary Hunter in 1964, a granddaughter, Jessica Bennett in 1987, her step-daughter, Debra McCallister in 2003, her brother, George in 2002 and her sister, Louise in 2015.
Surviving is her daughter: Claudia (Richard) Bennett of Rochester; two sisters: Mary Villnave of Portland, OR and Irene Degraff of Scotia, NY; her brother: Dr. Henry Domingos of Syracuse; a step-son-in-law, John McCallister of OH; five grandchildren: Kristy Ross, Brian and David McCallister, all of OH, Dustin Bennett of Pittsburgh, PA and Mitchell Bennett of Washington, DC; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to North Area Meals on Wheels, 413 Church Street, North Syracuse, NY 13212 or to the Episcopal Church Home, 505 Mount Hope Ave., Rochester, NY 14620.
Friends may call on Saturday from 11 am -1 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, with Services following at 1 pm. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery.
