Elsie Proietta (Cannito)

Elsie (Cannito) Proietta, 95, of Mattydale, died Friday at Loretto Cunningham. Elsie was a native of New Bergen, NJ, and moved to the North side of Syracuse in 1928. She believed “Syracuse was a wonderful place to grow up.” Elsie resided in Mattydale for the past 60 years. She attended Central High School and had a great love for music. Elsie regularly attended the Opera and was a member of the LACE Club in Liverpool. She was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church and a member of their Socialites.

She was predeceased by her husband, the light of her life, of 69 years, Arthur J. Proietta, in 2009 and by her children: Linda Jo Proietta in 2006 and Guy Proietta in 1993.

Surviving is her devoted daughter: Marlene Proietta of Mattydale; five grandchildren who were the joy of her life: Annamarie (Malfitana) Strawhand of VA, Leesa Marie (Malfitana) Musacchio of TX, Marcia (Malfitana) Woodworth of Clay, Matthew Proietta of VA, and Mary Kate Proietta of CA; six great grandchildren; one great great grandson; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Elsie’s memory may be made to St. Margaret's Church, 203 Roxboro Rd., Mattydale, NY 13211.

Friends may call from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm on Monday at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, immediately followed by a prayer at the funeral home and a Mass at St. Margaret's at 1 PM. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery.
