Roger W. Young

Roger W. Young 78, of Mattydale passed away Wednesday at St. Joseph’s hospital. Roger grew up on the North Side of Syracuse and has resided in Mattydale since 1972 and was the son of the late William and JeanneYoung.

He was a 1962 graduate of Henniger High School and received his associate’s degree in electrical engineering from Hudson Valley Comm College. He Was a Vietnam War veteran of the Navy and served aboard the USS Thomas Jefferson.

Roger retired in 2012 after more than 30 years as an Electrical Engineer for Anaren Microwave in E. Syracuse. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including hiking, camping, fishing in addition to ice skating, Skiing and broom ball in the winter.

He was predeceased by his sister Anita Vesz in 2022 and is survived by his Wife of 47 years the former Elke Milosz, two children Elke (Bret) Vredenburg of Mattydale ana Ron K. Lanzafame of Brewerton, two sisters Marlene Young and Loretta Vittorio both of Florida, two brothers Mark Young of Maine and Matt Young of Maryland, three grandchildren Ron F. Lanzafame, Hayden and Noah Vredenburg, several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 10 to 11 am at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Funeral Services will follow at 11 am. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse.
