Carmelina "Carmella" Russo (Cangemi)

Carmelina “Carmella” (Cangemi) Russo, 89, formerly of Betsy Ross Way in Liverpool, died Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Heritage Apartments in Loretto. Carm grew up on the North side of Syracuse and resided at 214 Toas Ave, Mattydale for 53 years before moving to Liverpool in 2005. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Cangemi.

Carm retired in 1952 after several years as an assembler at the television division of General Electric Company. She was a member of Believer’s Chapel Church.

She was predeceased by her four sisters, Susan Raffinello, Shirley Atkins, Anna Cangemi and Katherine Malara.

Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Anthony Russo; her two daughters, Marie (Jim) Dempsey, of Palm Bay, FL, and Carolyn Hutt, of Liverpool; her son: Anthony Russo II, of Thousand Oaks, CA; her four grandchildren: Ricky Ballard, Rachel Allen, and Jordan and Marissa Hutt; and her four great grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 - 7pm Wednesday at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Services will be on Thursday at 11 am in Believers Chapel. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery.
