Salvatore Zarrella

Salvatore Zarrella, 81, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2026. Salvatore was born in Naples, Italy, to the late Antonio and Maria Tortora. In 1973, Salvatore emigrated to the United States, where he settled in Syracuse.

Salvatore dedicated more than 30 years of his career as Group Leader at Crouse Hinds, before retiring in 2005. He was also an entrepreneur, owning and operating The Godfather Cafe on Butternut Street as well as a mobile coffee shop at the Syracuse Regional Market for several years. Known for his resourcefulness, Salvatore could fix or build anything and enjoyed spending time gardening. His faith was important to him, as he was a dedicated parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville.

Salvatore is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Generosa Zarrella, who was not only his spouse but also his confidante and partner in life; their six children: Maria (Bruce) Williams of Liverpool, Rosa(David) Busco of Chicago, Antonio (Sheila) Zarrella of Virginia, Angela (Joseph) Berry of Liverpool, Anna Zarrella of Syracuse, and Nancy (Eric) Poole of North Syracuse; grandchildren: Kristin (Jacob), Julia (Anthony), Salvatore, Sabina, Antonio Jr., Matthew (Erin), Michael, Grace, Stella, Jenna, Joseph, Christopher, and Sofia; and three great grandchildren: Charlotte, Emma and Lorenzo.

Friends may call on Sunday, July 26, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Prayer Services will begin at 9:00 am at the funeral home on Monday, July 27, followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs St., Fayetteville. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum, Syracuse.
