Christopher Hawn Shriver, 33, of Jersey City, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 17, 2015. Known for his bright personality, generosity and family-oriented outlook, Christopher touched many lives – beginning in Stafford County, Virginia. He resided most of his adult life in New York and New Jersey and was the son of Robert S. and Deborah H. (Hawn) Shriver.
Christopher earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2004, after which he worked as a treasury trader in New York City. Christopher was an avid sports fan and loved the New York Yankees, Giants, and most fondly his alma mater, the Hokies. Some of his greatest memories were spent on Oneida Lake, fishing with his favorite fishing buddy, his grandfather – Earl Hawn.
In addition to his parents, Christopher is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Austin Shriver of Richmond, Virginia; a nephew, Christopher; his maternal grandmother, Helen Hawn of Mattydale, New York; an aunt, Catherine Carter of Atlanta, Georgia; an aunt and uncle, Earl and Mary Hawn of Marquette, Michigan; amongst other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He leaves us with many great memories – as an exemplary son, brother, grandson, uncle, role model and friend.
Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road in Mattydale. A Prayer Service will begin on Friday, 10:30 AM, at the funeral home with an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial following at Saint Margaret’s Church in Mattydale. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum, Syracuse – where he will rest near his fishing partner and grandfather, Earl Hawn.
