Thomas J. Humiston, 88, of Liverpool, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2026, at Elderwood of Liverpool. Born to the late Lester and Bonabell (Zalsman) Humiston, Tom grew up in the Georgetown and Syracuse areas. He attended Vocational High School and resided in the Northern suburbs for most of his life.
Tom worked for an east coast Environmental Oil Company where he helped develop the business working his way up through the ranks. He was a truck driver, worked in sales and eventually became the Vice President and then owned and operated a Syracuse based Environment Oil Company. He owned and operated Beau Quest Eateries in Syracuse for 19 years during the 1980’s. After that venture, he opened Beau Quest Photography which was his calling for many years before retiring. He won many awards for his nature photography and sold many of his works at area shops. Tom’s passion for life was evident in his many hobbies. He enjoyed motorcycling, mountain climbing in the Adirondacks, New Hampshire, and Maine, and ran in many marathons including Boston and New York City.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Tammy (Dupra) Humiston in 2019, a son, Tommy Humiston in 1993, his brother, Floyd Humiston, and sisters, Betty Fischel and Marie Humiston.
Tom is survived by his children: Betty Jane (David Farrell) Humiston of Black River and David Humiston of Tampa, FL; siblings: Dolores (Ron) Hill of Camden, Robert (Patricia) Humiston of Liverpool and Patricia (Ed) House of West Monroe; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Karen Kneuss-Humiston of Liverpool; and several nieces and nephews.
