Thomas C. Wirickx, 49, of Brewerton, passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 18, 2025. Tom grew up and resided in the DeRuyter area for most of his life. He was a 1993 graduate of DeRuyter High School, attended SUNY Morrisville where he received an associate’s degree in 1996 for applied science natural resources conservation, and a bachelor’s degree in science in 1998 from SUNY ESF.
Tom was an Army veteran. He worked for McFarland Johnson in Binghamton for the past 14 years as a wildlife biologist and previously worked at C & S Engineering and Stearns and Wheeler, both in Syracuse. Tom was a member of the Cicero American Legion Post #787 and a fan of NASCAR racing. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling.
Tom was predeceased by his father, Jens Wirickx in 2014 and by a brother, James Wirickx in 2019. He is survived by his daughter, Leyna Wirickx and her mother, Karen Henchen, both of Jamesville; his mother, Patricia Spaulding of Baldwinsville; longtime companion, Peggy Hatch; two siblings, Susan (Richard) Peters and John “Jay” Wirickx; three stepsiblings: Tamara Pepper, Pamela Washbon, and Thomas Spaulding; and by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, with a Service of Remembrance following at 7:00 pm.
