Thomas C. Wyllie, 76, of Cicero, passed away on July 3, 2023, at home. Born in Auburn, Tom was the son of the late Robert and Edna (Hayes) Wyllie and brother of the late Robert Hayes Wyllie who passed in 2022. After graduating from Savannah High School in 1965, he attended Auburn Community College, earning an Associates Degree in 1968 and went on to earn his BS in Mathematics from SUNY Oswego in 1971.
Tom worked as a mechanical engineer for 25 years at Carrier Corporation in Syracuse before retiring in 2004. He was a member of the F & AM Masons for most of his life. A true music enthusiast, Tom played guitar and the sousaphone and was a member of the Savannah Cellar Savers band. He was also an accomplished ballroom dancer, enjoyed bowling participating in many area leagues, and an avid photographer. Tom always enjoyed spending his time at Cranberry Lake and was a follower of the Christian faith.
He is survived by his three children: Malinda Byrne of Canandaigua, Meghan Khalsa of San Francisco, and Ian Wyllie of Wolcott; his sister-in-law, Nancy Wyllie of Farmington, NY; two grandchildren; a niece Beth and a nephew, Matthew; several cousins; and many dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tom's memory to Meals on Wheels of North Syracuse.
Services will be private at the family's convenience and burial will be held in the family plot at Cranberry Lake Cemetery in Cranberry Lake. A celebration of life picnic will take place on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Onondaga Lake Park in the Willow Bay Shelter from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
