Eva M. Van Valkenburg, 94, of Canastota, died Wednesday, September 28, 2016. Born in Jordanville, Eva lived in and graduated in 1940 from Richfield Springs in Mohawk Valley. She was the daughter of the late Flossie and Cleon Harter. Eva resided in Canastota on Oneida Lake for 50 years and maintained a winter residence in Shallotte, NC for more than 30 years.
She owned and operated the Mohawk Valley Tavern with her husband, Irving, in the 1950's.
Eva was predeceased by her son, Dave Van Valkenburg, in 2007.
She is survived by her husband of 76 years, Irving; their son, Thomas (Anne) Van Valkenburg; and a daughter-in-law, Julie Van Valkenburg, all of Canastota; her seven grandchildren: Brandon, Kelly, TJ, Jennifer, Mike, Jeff, and Chad; ten great grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Brook, Brandon, Jeff, Nolan, Michael, Isabella, Jason, Leslie, and Kurt; and a great great granddaughter on the way.
