Virginia J. Stone

Virginia J. Stone, 92, of Liverpool, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025, with her family by her side. Jean was born in Oswego and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha Segal. She resided in Liverpool on the family farm and was a 1951 graduate of A.V. Zogg High School in Liverpool.

Jean retired in 1995 after 35 years as a bookkeeper for the CNY Regional Market in Syracuse. She was a member of the Polish National Alliance and the Osceola Snowmobile Club where she and her late husband, Lyle, maintained a year-round camp. Jean enjoyed playing golf and her bridge club with the ladies. Her favorite time of the year was the holidays when she would cook for family and friends while spending time together over a meal. Jean was a former communicant of Sacred Heart of the Basilica in Syracuse and St. Joseph the Worker in Liverpool.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Lyle Stone, in 2016 and by her sisters, Anne Zajac and Julia Lis-Backity.

Virginia is survived by her two children, Lynn Stone of Liverpool and Ron (Tamara) Stone of Cicero; four grandchildren: Brianna, Austin, Alexa, and Adison; and by several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Friday, August 22, from 4:00 -7:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, with a 7:00 pm Funeral Service following. Burial will be Monday, 8/25, 10:00 am, in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Clay.
